St. Michael and Number 10

St. Michael and Number 10
Location: Marsascala, Zongor Point.

Description:
These two wrecks, both tugboats built in 1944, were scuttled in 1998 after having been given a full environmental clean- up. The St. Michael is of Tanac type, 20m long and built in Canada, while the Number 10 is 16m in length and of Melita type. Zongor Point was chosen as the site partly on account of its clean, sandy seabed and absence of Posidonia sea grass meadows. The wrecks are expected to act as much needed artificial reefs. The site could be especially interesting to underwater photographers specialized in macro photography because the wrecks are teeming with nudibranchs and other miniature marine organisms.

Maximum depth: 21m
Conditions: Sheltered from the prevailing winds, but with reduced visibility.
Type: Shore Dive.
Minimum diver ability: Novice.
